Some features of the Services require you to directly provide us with certain information about yourself or your child. If you choose not to provide this information, we will not be able to fulfil your order.

Any information we obtain from third parties will be treated in accordance with this Privacy Policy. We are not responsible for the policies or practices of those third parties; for more information, see the section below on Third Party Websites and Links.

How We Use Your Personal Information

Providing Products and Services

We use your personal information to provide you with the Services in order to perform our contract with you, including to process your payments, fulfil your orders, send notifications related to your account, purchases, returns, exchanges, or other transactions, create and manage your account, arrange for shipping, facilitate any returns and exchanges, and enable you to leave reviews.

Marketing and Advertising

We use your personal information for marketing and promotional purposes, such as to send marketing, advertising, and promotional communications by email, text message, or postal mail, and to show you advertisements for products or services. This may include using your personal information to better tailor the Services and advertising on our Site and other websites.

However, we promise NOT to use the following personal information for marketing or advertising purposes without your explicit consent:

  • Any photo of your child that you upload to create their book.
  • Any answers, dreams, or personalisation details that you or your child submit to create their book.
  • Any finished book, illustration, or other personalised material derived from your order.

If you would like to opt your child's content into being used for marketing (for example, sharing a photo of them holding their finished book on our social channels), you can do so by replying to a request from us, or contacting us directly. Otherwise, we will never use any of the above for marketing.

Security and Fraud Prevention

We use your personal information to detect, investigate, or take action regarding possible fraudulent, illegal, or malicious activity. If you choose to use the Services and register an account, you are responsible for keeping your account credentials safe. We strongly recommend that you do not share your username, password, or other access details with anyone else. If you believe your account has been compromised, please contact us immediately.

Communicating with You

We use your personal information to provide you with customer support and to improve our Services. This is in our legitimate interests in order to be responsive to you, to provide effective services, and to maintain our business relationship with you.

Cookies

Like many websites, we use Cookies on our Site. We use Cookies to power and improve our Site and our Services (including to remember your actions and preferences), to run analytics, and to better understand user interaction with the Services (in our legitimate interests to administer, improve, and optimise the Services). We may also permit third parties and service providers to use Cookies on our Site to better tailor the services, products, and advertising on our Site and other websites.

Most browsers automatically accept Cookies by default, but you can choose to set your browser to remove or reject Cookies through your browser controls. Please keep in mind that removing or blocking Cookies can negatively impact your user experience and may cause some of the Services, including certain features and general functionality, to work incorrectly or no longer be available.

How We Disclose Personal Information

In certain circumstances, we may disclose your personal information to third parties for legitimate purposes subject to this Privacy Policy. Such circumstances may include:

  • With vendors or other third parties who perform services on our behalf (e.g., IT management, payment processing, data analytics, customer support, cloud storage, fulfilment, and shipping).
  • With business and marketing partners, including Shopify and Klaviyo, to provide services and communicate with you. Our business and marketing partners will use your information in accordance with their own privacy notices.
  • With our manufacturing and shipping partner Lulu, who receives your name, address, contact information, and book file, in order to print and ship your order. Lulu will use your information in accordance with their own privacy notice.
  • When you direct, request, or otherwise consent to our disclosure of certain information to third parties, such as through your use of social media widgets or login integrations.
  • With our affiliates or otherwise within our corporate group, in our legitimate interests to run a successful business.
  • In connection with a business transaction such as a merger or bankruptcy, to comply with any applicable legal obligations (including responding to subpoenas, search warrants, and similar requests), to enforce any applicable terms of service, and to protect or defend the Services, our rights, and the rights of our users or others.

We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for the purposes of inferring characteristics about you.

We have never, and will never, sell or share (as those terms are defined in applicable law) information you provide to us — including photos, children's data, or order details — to any third party for the purposes of their own marketing, advertising, or profit.

Children's Data

The Services are not intended to be used directly by children under 18. However, we collect personal information about children in order to create their personalised books, with the explicit consent of a parent or guardian provided at the moment of purchase.

If you are the parent or guardian of a child whose personal information has been provided to us, you can contact us at info@whenigrowup.shop at any time to review, restrict, or request the deletion of that information.

Our business model is clear: we sell personalised books. We do not monetise or sell customer data, and we never sell or share photos, children's information, or order details with anyone for marketing or commercial purposes outside the fulfilment of your order. Photos and personal data are retained only for as long as necessary to fulfil your orders, after which they are permanently deleted in line with the retention periods set out below.

Enhanced Protection for Children's Data

Chambersole Limited is committed to protecting the privacy of children in compliance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the EU General Data Protection Regulation (EU GDPR), and the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) in the United States, where applicable.

Our approach centres on ensuring that personal data from children is used responsibly and ethically when creating personalised books. This data is collected only with explicit parental or guardian consent — given at the moment of purchase — and is limited to what is necessary to create the book.

Parental Rights

Parents or guardians have the right to review, delete, or restrict the use of their child's personal data at any time. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at info@whenigrowup.shop and our team will assist you promptly.

Data Security

We take the security of your data — especially when it involves children — very seriously. Here are the security measures we have in place:

  • Encryption. Your data is encrypted during transmission and while stored on our servers.
  • Access Control. Access to your data is restricted to authorised personnel only. Our team is trained to handle data with care and is bound by strict confidentiality agreements.
  • Regular Audits. We conduct regular security reviews to identify and address any vulnerabilities in our systems and processes.

Please be aware that no security measures are perfect or impenetrable, and we cannot guarantee "perfect security." Any information you send to us may not be secure while in transit. We recommend that you do not use unsecured channels to communicate sensitive or confidential information to us.

Retention of Your Information

We strive to be transparent about how long we retain your data. Here is a breakdown of the typical retention periods for different types of information:

  • Photos you upload: We store these for 14 days after your last order, to allow revisions under our happiness guarantee policy. After this period they are permanently deleted.
  • Character-reference models trained on the photo: These are deleted 90 days after your last order in which the model was used to generate illustrations.
  • Finished books, illustrations, and related personalisation data: We retain these for up to one year from your last order, allowing easy access and revisitation of your creations. After this period they are permanently deleted unless you request earlier deletion.
  • Order and contact information: Retained for the period required by tax, accounting, and consumer protection laws, typically up to seven years.

In some cases we may need to retain your data for longer periods. This could be due to legal requirements, resolving disputes, or enforcing our policies. We will only retain your data for as long as necessary for these purposes.

Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the rights listed below in relation to your personal information. However, these rights are not absolute, may apply only in certain circumstances, and in certain cases we may decline your request as permitted by law.

  • Right to Access / Know. You may have a right to request access to personal information we hold about you, including details relating to the ways in which we use and share your information.

  • Managing Communication Preferences. We may send you promotional emails, and you may opt out of receiving these at any time by using the unsubscribe option displayed in our emails to you. If you opt out, we may still send you non-promotional emails, such as those about your account or orders.

You may exercise any of these rights by contacting us at info@whenigrowup.shop. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights. Your personal information is also processed by staff and third-party service providers and partners in these countries.

If we transfer your personal information out of the UK or the European Economic Area, we will rely on recognised transfer mechanisms such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, or any equivalent contracts issued by the relevant competent authority, unless the data transfer is to a country that has been determined to provide an adequate level of protection.

Our Site may provide links to websites or other online platforms operated by third parties.
